Residential retreat for a single family.
Located on the Hillsborough River in Tampa, this one-acre site contains three houses, a twelve-car garage, and a pool House.
The organizing concept draws from the vernacular Florida porch idea, implementing it as a device on each of the structures. Through this repetition, the porch becomes an element that binds everything together while establishing a centralized interactive zone within the site.
Site Section Concept
Taking advantage of the steep drop in topography across the site, some of the structures are embedded into the landscape. The car garage appears as a single-story structure upon entry, but opens up and expands as one makes their way down through the site.
